Jean-Pierre Robinot ran a Paris wine bar for fifteen years before moving back to the Sarthe. In 2002 he replanted slopes left fallow for a century and made his first vintage.
Chenin, pineau d’aunis, gamay. Hand harvesting, ageing in old barrels. The wines are bottled unfiltered, as Jasnières, as Coteaux du Loir, or as vin de table.
In Rotalier, in the southern Jura, the Labet family has worked the same valley since 1974. Julien, Romain and Charline now farm its fourteen hectares.
Every cuvée has been certified organic since the 2016 vintage. Chardonnay, savagnin, poulsard, vinified plot by plot. Each lieu-dit is bottled separately, some with no added sulphur.
In Mittelbergheim, between Strasbourg and Colmar, the family has been bottling since 1946. Lucas took over in 1996, began the organic conversion in 2009, certified in 2012, and is moving towards biodynamics.
Ten hectares across Mittelbergheim, Barr and Andlau, with plots in the Zotzenberg, Wiebelsberg and Kirchberg de Barr grands crus. Sylvaner, riesling, pinot noir. Restrained yields, slow pressing, long ageing.
Mëralla is Michèle Ramponi, in Ammerschwihr. The name comes from her first name and surname, and means little Michèle in Alsatian. The project started in 2023, next to the estate of her husband Christian Binner.
A négociant house working on Alsace grands crus, in micro-cuvées. Michèle also presses apple juice and verjuice from an orchard in the Munster valley.
In 2011, Bencze István settled on the volcanic slopes of Szent György Hill, north of Lake Balaton. The estate now spans eighteen hectares, farmed organically from the start and biodynamically since 2014.
Riesling, furmint, kéknyelű, hárslevelű, kék bakator, chenin and pinot noir. Spontaneous fermentation, no fining or filtration, ageing in wood and amphora. Wines with no added sulphur, seeking the precision of basalt and old Hungarian varieties.
