Christian Binner, a farm around the vines
The Binner family’s history in Ammerschwihr dates back to 1770. Christian continues this work in Alsace, connecting the vineyard with orchards and the farm’s other crops.
A family history
His father Joseph stopped using pesticides and chemical fertilisers early on. Since taking over in 2000, Christian has developed biodynamic practices and sought to make the plots less dependent on machinery.
Trees among the vines
Cover crops and tree planting are part of that work. A horse is used when conditions allow, while a tractor remains necessary for some tasks.
Time in the cellar
The wines mature until Christian considers them ready. RARE identifies wines with nothing added or removed. Sulphur may still be added when a technical difficulty requires it.
Different expressions of Alsace
The Amourschwihr wines sit alongside single-plot wines such as Schlossberg. The estate also distils eaux-de-vie and uses fruit from its orchards.
