Domaine Rieffel, three villages in Alsace
The Rieffel family has bottled wine in Mittelbergheim since 1946. Lucas took over the estate in 1996.
A gradual handover
After Julien and André, Lucas began converting the vineyard to organic farming in 2009, with certification in 2012. This describes its organic history, without implying biodynamic certification.
Mittelbergheim, Barr and Andlau
The plots span these three villages, including vines in the Zotzenberg, Wiebelsberg and Kirchberg de Barr grands crus. Sylvaner, riesling and pinot noir are important to the range.
Patient pressing and ageing
Restrained yields, slow pressing and extended ageing underpin the work. Interventions and any sulphur additions depend on the wine.
Beyond the grands crus
Wiebelsberg provides a precise geographical reference. Pinot noirs, Granite, Emprise and the sparkling wines show other aspects of Lucas’s work. Each bottle has its own details.
