Hélicon, two chenins from Anjou
Raphaëlle Pienne and Constantin Vellis work in Anjou Noir, south of Angers. Their estate Hélicon explores two chenin plots in particular.
Settling in Anjou
The couple settled in the area in 2019. The project developed around vines of different ages, with different soils and exposures.
La Guêpière and Les Onglés
La Guêpière, on purple schist, produces Frénésie. Les Onglés, on grey and green schist, produces Anicroche. These plot names locate the two wines.
Keeping the plot as a reference
Chenin connects the two wines, but each retains its own origin. Comparing vintages follows the same grape in different growing conditions, without automatically assigning an aroma to a rock type.
A growing range
Frénésie and Anicroche are the first reference points for discovering Hélicon. Fredaine broadens the selection. Each wine’s details specify its origin and production, as choices can evolve with harvests.
