Racines Rebelles, the slopes of Luxembourg’s Moselle
Kaja Kohv was a sommelier before becoming a winegrower. With Racines Rebelles, she works hillsides around Grevenmacher and Dreiborn in Luxembourg.
Building her own vineyard
After working in Australia and spending several years in Luxembourg, Kaja began her project in 2020, without inheriting family vines.
Limestone soils and Moselle varieties
Elbling is important, alongside pinot blanc, auxerrois, riesling and several red varieties. The hillside plots require substantial manual work.
Farming a living environment
Kaja describes her farming as regenerative organic agriculture. Cover crops, medicinal plants, orchards and bushes are part of it. A little cider is also made from old apple trees.
From pressing to skin contact
Roche Liquide and Sur la Peau offer two expressions of elbling. La Source focuses on pinot blanc. These wines show different winemaking choices within one small vineyard.
