The producerReynald Héaulé

Reynald Héaulé, grape varieties around Orléans

Near Orléans, Reynald Héaulé grows a diversity of grape varieties now rare in the area. Blending is central to his winemaking.

From accounting to vines

After an earlier career, he became a winegrower. His long period working with Claude Courtois helped shape his own project.

Replanting and observing

He found his first plot in 2000, then planted different varieties according to soil and exposure. The land includes clay and flint. Hedges contribute to the vineyard environment.

Blending at different stages

Harvesting is by hand. Grapes or wines may be combined at pressing, during fermentation or after ageing. Tasting the different lots guides the final choice.

Freely composed Vins de France

L’Insoumis du Village, Rive Droite, Terre de Silice and O express this approach. Their blends vary from year to year, bringing together familiar and less common varieties rather than following a fixed recipe.
