Sylvain Martinez, the cellars of Le Thoureil

Sylvain Martinez works in Anjou in the Loire. He established his cellar in Le Thoureil in 2016, in the partly troglodytic Caves de l’Abbaye.

Learning from Anjou growers

After several experiences, including in Bordeaux, he worked with Olivier Cousin. Xavier Cailleau, René Mosse and Mark Angeli also influenced his path.

A first hectare in 2006

He began with a small area before taking over more vines. Organic farming is part of the estate’s gradual development.

Several Loire grapes

Chenin is a reference for the whites. Grolleau, gamay and pineau d’Aunis contribute to reds and some blends. Wines retain distinct compositions and production methods.

Wines to discover

Goutte d’Ô introduces his chenin, Corbeau his grolleau and Onis his pineau d’Aunis. Bianc O completes the white selection. Vintage-specific information identifies blends, which should not be assumed identical every year.
